Job Summary
The Production Shift Coordinator oversees and supervises all production activities during their assigned shift to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Responsibilities include managing workflow, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and resolving operational issues.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and motivate Production staff during the shifts.
Assign tasks according to the production plan and staff availability.
Monitor staff performance and provide feedback and guidance.
Conduct shift meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and updates.
Ensure proper shift handover and documentation.
Coordinate shift activities to maintain optimal production flow and meet daily output targets.
Communicate with other departments to ensure raw material and packaging availability.
Address production delays and implement corrective actions as needed.
Monitor operations to ensure compliance with quality standards and promptly address any deviations.
Conduct in-process checks and ensure accurate record keeping.
Collaborate with Quality personnel to resolve quality issues.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of machinery; report malfunctions and assist in minimizing downtime.
Coordinate with maintenance team for timely repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
Maintain accurate equipment usage and downtime records.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues to avoid disruption.
Implement immediate corrective actions and escalate unresolved issues to the Production Manager.
Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and legal requirements.
Report safety incidents and near misses promptly.
Maintain effective communication across teams and shifts.
Prepare and submit accurate shift reports detailing production performance, incidents, and updates.
Participate in shift handover meetings and provide input on production planning and improvements.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Production Manager or management team.
Assist in monthly/annual stock taking as needed.
Comply with all Company Policies and procedures.
Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Job requirements
Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering (bachelor’s degree considered an asset).
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Production Plant environment, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
Experience in a unionized environment with knowledge of industrial relations.
Knowledge of OSH requirements and Quality procedures.
Excellent supervisory, communication, and negotiation skills.
Excellent reporting skills.
Experience with ERP systems
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Proactive and results-oriented
Ability to supervise large and diverse teams
Ability to mediate and de-escalate conflict situations
High level of integrity and commitment to ethical practices.
